iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro Are Here: What It Means for Screen Protector Buyers

Apple’s current iPhone lineup now spans iPhone Duo — the company’s first foldable, with a dual-display design — alongside iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e. For anyone sourcing screen protection, the interesting part is not the camera or the chip. It is what the new form factors do to the film specification.

A foldable changes the job in two different ways. The outer screen is still a rigid cover glass, so it takes a tempered glass film — but on a folded phone the outer screen is the one used most of the time, which makes full-adhesive bonding more important than on a standard bar phone: it holds up better to temperature swings and light knocks, and it is far less likely to peel off in one piece. The inner display is a different story. It is a flexible panel that folds thousands of times, so a rigid glass film is not suitable there, and buyers should be clear about that in their listings rather than promising glass protection on both screens.

Ultra-thin models raise a separate issue: with bodies as slim as iPhone Air’s 5.5 mm, there is no room for a film that adds bulk or a case tolerance that pushes the film up at the edges. Thin film stock (0.33 mm) and a dust-free applicator matter more on these models than on any previous generation.

Screen protection for the new range is produced to order. These are thin, curved and — in one case — folding devices, so the film has to be tooled to the exact model rather than adapted from a generic sheet. Send us your model list and estimated quantities, and we will come back with pricing, packing options and samples.
